Lee, who won the Maybank Malaysian Open in 1997 and 2014 and finished T29th last year, returns to Saujana Golf and Country Club, for this year's event.

Grouped with Scott Hend and Hideto Tanihara, Lee has a Thursday tee-time of 13.00hrs (5.00 GMT) from the 1st and 08.10 (00.10 GMT) from the 10th on Friday.

Lee began his day with two bogeys on the outward nine (and a bogey at the 13th) but added birdies at 11,14 and 17, to end par for the day.

Leader Chris Paisley shot a 7-under 65 but play was suspended due to darkness, with a number of players completing their round on Friday.

Lee enjoyed his "fun" day on the tricky greens on Friday when he made 11 birdies and one bogey (62), tying in 3rd place on 10-under par, just one stroke adrift of joint leaders, Thailand's Khongwatmai and Bertasio of Italy and Lee joins them for a 10.00 tee-time from the first on Saturday, recording a 70.

Out at 9.00 from the 1st with Larazabal and Fox, Lee again added 70 to his card and completed the event on 14-under par and in T11th place.  He now travels to Perth for the ISPS Handa World Super 6.
