Eurasia Cup

January 2016

Lee travels to Kuala Lumpur this week, for the Eurasia Cup ( presented by DRB-HICOM) matchplay event between Europe and Asia, which takes place at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club.

Team Europe, a twelve man team lead by Darren Clarke, hope to take home the trophy after the inaugral event ended 10-10 draw in 2014.

Europe took the lead 4½ to 1½, following the first day's six matches, winning 4 matches and one all square.   Lee and Chris Wood's pairing were the final group, taking the 2nd and 5th to go 2-up but Team Asia, Aphibarnrat and Chawrasia won the 7th and 10th to take the match back to all square. The match was won 2 and 1 when Team Europe birdied the 12th and 16th holes.

Team Europe won another 4½ points on Saturday extending the lead to 9 -3.

Teamed with Fitzpatrick on Saturday, Europe went one down at the first but won the second and third to go one up. Winning the 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th, secured the win for Europe.

Lee said,"We played well, made a bogey on the first and gave them one, but after that we were six under and finished on 14, we didn't hit too many bad shots".

"A lot of fairways, a lot of greens and made putts when we needed to and just always felt in control once we came back from the first hole."

Europe won the trophy 18½ to Asia's 5½. Lee, seventh man to go out, won his match 7 & 6 against Nicholas Fung, after leading throughout.
