The 153rd Open

The 153rd Open begins at Royal Portrush in Ireland from 17th July.  This is the event which Lee qualified to play in when he returned from Dallas.

Lee began his first round when he went out at 8.14 with Thomas Detry and Chris Gotterup. By the time he reached the 12th hole, he'd made 4 birdies.  Then the wind and rain arrived. At the 14th his putt for par pulled up short (bogey) and he made another bogey at 16.Two under for the round left him with a score of 69 and in T10th place, but all the  five leaders were on -4.

Lee went out for the second round at 1.15. He bogeyed the third then made a birdie at 7 followed by another bogey at 8.Then on the back nine he made birdies at 13 and 17, which meant he was 1-under for the round,  3-under for the event and in T12th place.

Scottie Scheffler leads on 10-under par. 

Lee goes out with American Sam Burns at 2.20pm and shot 40 on the front nine, (double bogey at 3,bogey at 4, bogeys at 6 and 8, with a birdie at 7. Then on the back nine he made history at being only the second person to have scored 29 in the history of The Open. Three birdies in a row, then more at 14,15 and 17. His round of 69 saw him finish on 5-under par and in T14th position.

His final tee-time is 12.45 on Sunday. He made a birdie on the 3rd, then treble bogeyed on the 7th. On the back nine, he bogeyed 11, birdied 13,bogeyed 16, then birdied 17 for a 2-over 73. His final score of 3-under par, earned him T34th place.

Winner of this year's Open was Scottie Scheffler on 17-under par, 4-strokes ahead of the field.
