Lee is at Portrush GC in Northern Ireland this week for the 148th Open. His best finish was 2nd in 2010.
He had a 14.37 opening round tee-time with Brandt Snedeker and Brian Harman, making 3 birdies and a bogey on the outward nine and 3 birdies and 2 bogeys on the way home. Lee's 68 saw him ending the day on 3-under par and two strokes adrift of leader, JB Holmes.
Lee had an earlier start on Friday. A bogey free 4-under 67 saw him 7 under for the event. Lee was in the penultimate group on Saturday with Tommy Fleetwood, recording a 70.
On Sunday he was out with Danny Willett, playing in atrocious weather. He made three birdies and two bogeys on the front nine and a further birdie at the 10th and was up to 10-under par but he bogeyed the 11th to the 14th and then the 16th, to finish on 6 under par, which earned him T4th place and €447,118 in prize money.
Shane Lowry won the event on 15-under par.
