This is Lee's 24th straight appearance at the BMW PGA Championship, at Wentworth this week. Lee finished T15th here last year, his best so far, being a playoff against Luke Donald in 2011.

With a 12.40 teetime alongside Thomas Pieters and Martin Kaymer on Thursday, Lee got off to a good start and was 3 under in the first six holes but dropped back to 2-under following a bogey at 7. 2-under for the day earned him T 20th place.

He had an 8.15 start on Friday and signed for a 3 -under 69. He is now T5th on 5 under par, just 2 shots behind a three way tie for lead.

On Saturday Lee was 3-over on the front nine but birdies on the final three holes, saw him finish on par for the day and T3rd on the leaderboard, 3 strokes behind leader Andrew Dodt.

"My short game's been really sharp, and it needed to be today", he said after his round. "I hit a lot of good chips out there, and didn't give myself too much hard work. And then when I hit fairways and greens on the last four holes, I was 3-under for them".

And tomorrow? "It will take better tee-to-green playing than today, just to keep focusing and the mental strength that I had today, really, I was pleased with myself the way I kept digging in there and grinding away. Myself and Billy were just laughing at it. After about 13 or 14 holes, I got up-and-down again and I got up-and-down on the 14th green and we were just laughing at each other because it was so ridiculous. I hit one green!"

He had a 1300 tee-time on Sunday with Francesco Mollinari and recorded a final round 73. His 4-under par final score earned him T14th.

Alex Noren, who began his day 1-under par, won the event on 11-under, an amazing feat!
