His best finishes in the event were T2nd in 1999, 2000 and 2012 but missed the cut last year, for only the second time in his career (2002).
He plays with Martin Kaymer and Jeunghun Wang for the first two rounds, teeing off at 12.15 on Thursday and 07.55 from the 19th on Friday (times GMT +4).
Lee was 4-up after the 11th, but saw his score return to par when he bogeyed the following four holes. He ended the day 1-under par thanks to a birdie at 17.
Winds of 25mph were expected in the morning and Lee signed for a 74. Play was later suspended for the day due to the high winds and will resume on Saturday.
Only one bogey for Lee, who had a 13.50 start from the 10th with Paul Dunne and Adrian Otaegui. His 5-under 67 saw him end the day in T28th place on 4-under par. Sergio Garcia leads on 16-under.
With a 71 for his final round, Lee ended the event T23rd on 5-under par, earning €24,490 in prize money.
