Lee took a six week break,  adding his fifteenth hole in one to his record (hole 6 Renaissance Club), taking time out to watch the rugby in Scotland with son, Sam and cheering on another win for Ballyalton, the horse he bought for his father's Christmas gift at Cheltenham Festival.

He flew to the USA on Sunday for the WGC Dell Match Play event at Austin Country Club in Texas.The event’s 64-man field is divided into 16 four-man pools, with each one headed by one of the top 16 players in the Official World Golf Ranking. The other three members were randomly drawn, with one apiece coming from the Nos. 17-32 seeds, Nos. 33-48 and Nos. 49-64.

On Wednesday,Lee played in Group 13 against Sergio Garcia. Garcia went 1 up at the 2nd and 2 up at the third, but was back to AS at 5. Lee then birdied the sixth and seventh to lead by two but two bogeys, including a shot penalty on the ninth, saw Garcia go one up after a birdie on the 11th.

Lee played Mark Leishman in the second round, with Leishman taking the lead from the 1st hole and remaining 1-up until Lee won the 5th to go AS. Leishman won the 9th and 10th to go 2-up but it was back to AS at 12. Lee took the lead from 13 and won the match 1-up.

The third and final match in the thirteenth group was against Ryan Moore, who was the first to take the lead, but it was up and down until the 13th when Moore rolled in a 16ft birdie putt to take the match back to AS. Moore again went into the lead, with a birdie at 15. He made birdies at the next two holes, which Lee could not match. Ryan won the match 3 up and 1 to play.  Moore won the most points for the group and Lee, Garcia and Leishman were knocked out of the event.
